The most important thing to know?

The owner of his own landscaping business, Dave Lindahl may have looked like the American dream from the outside – working for himself. But the truth was something very different. Dave owned a seasonal business; he worked grueling hours in season, leaving him emotionally and physically drained and in the off season, he scraped together odd jobs so that he could generate enough money to pay his bills. It was an endless cycle of work and worry and after three seasons in landscaping, Dave knew that there had to be another way to earn a living.

His first window into real estate came from a friend who worked in a bank. The bank owned a foreclosed home that it wanted to rehab and sell; they were looking for bids on the repair work. Dave submitted a bid and lost – following it up with two additional bids on other repair projects which he also lost.

After that third time Dave decided to just buy a property himself. Why should he do the work and then let the bank profit? The parade of properties began there with Dave buying and selling properties without having any real idea what he was doing. So he set to work to put more definition into systems that would allow him to maximize his efforts and earn him the most money.

Dave has since compiled the most important components of successful real estate transactions. He has read all the books, listened to all the tapes – and studied them all; culling from them – and his first-hand experience - the information that has allowed him to find such great success in the real estate market. Over the years he has rehabbed, lease optioned, lease purchased, wholesaled, retailed, and flipped properties.

Dave Lindahl could have retired just 4 ½ years into his new profession and still could, but he chooses to continue his work in real estate investing. Why? Because he loves what he does for a living.
